The checkpoint was carried out in North Cork
Cork Beo reports that Gardai in Mitchelstown were conducting the checkpoint in Mitchelstown when they spotted two men acting suspiciously.
The Guards decided to search the men before finding the weapons, which also included a knife.
No one has been arrested in relation to the incident, however a file has been sent to the DPP
