Adaptive bivalent vaccines are to be rolled out in Ireland from early October as Covid 19 boosters.
They include components of the original virus strain and the Omicron variant.
The National Immunisation Advisory Committee has recommended authorised adapted bivalent vaccines for all those aged 12 years and older who are eligible for a booster.
The new shot includes components of the original Covid-19 virus and the Omicron variant, offering a more sophisticated level of protection as winter approaches.
Minister Donnelly says development of these vaccines represents an important new step in our approach to combatting COVID-19 and they will play a significant role in Ireland’s Autumn/Winter Vaccination Campaign.
Doses of bivalent adapted vaccines have already been delivered to Ireland.
