Yesterday alone, 55,000 people received their top up dose.
The booster rollout is continuing to be ramped up with the announcement that the vaccines will be made available for the 40-49 age group from tomorrow- 8 days ahead of the original schedule.
The HSE aims to have 1.5 million booster doses administered by Christmas and CEO Paul Reid says they are well on track to reach their target:
"We're just seeing strong numbers coming through in vaccination centres and GPs, pharmacies, all the extra capacity that we put in place. So that's facilitated us now to accelerate the opening of the age 40 years and plus. We've always said that we would be working towards having 1.5 million booster and third doses administered by Christmas Day and we're well on track to now achieve that and exceeded it."
