An Post has launched a service allowing people to request a check-in on elderly or vulnerable family members cocooning.
Post men and women will then call-in while on their regular routes to see if they need help, and even contact the charity Alone if more help is required.
The service is free and can be accessed online.
Managing Director of An Post is Garret Bridgeman explains the process.
"Log on, and simply put in the details of a person they're concerned about, be they an elderly or vulnerable person.
"What we will do is use that information and through or Digital network give that information to the local post man or woman throughout the country, one of the 4,500.
"They will actually call into the vulnerable person or the elderly person over the coming days to check in with them and see if they're ok."
