A number of asylum seekers at a direct provision centre in Kerry have moved to hotel accommodation in Cork after testing positive for Covid-19.
The Echo reports the residents of the Caherciveen facility moved Leeside to self-isolate, following an outcry over the lack of social distancing space at the centre.
It's understood the Cork hotel has been used as a location for a number of other asylum seekers across Munster who have tested positive for the coronavirus.
In April, the Department of Justice announced that no more than 3 people would share a room in direct provision centres across Ireland.
However, speaking to RedFM News at the time, Nick Henderson, the chief executive of the Irish Refugee Council, said that policy was simply not good enough:
