Banning The Sale Of Alcohol At Gigs And Festivals Could Cause An Increase In Ticket Prices

That's according to the founder of Indiependence, Shane Dunne

He says concert organisers, particularly for smaller capacity venues, rely on the sale of alcohol as a revenue stream to run events and pay artists.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly and Arts Minister Catherine Martin are meeting this afternoon to discuss the potential return of large scale concerts and music events.

Hundreds of gigs and festivals across Ireland have been cancelled since March due to the Covid-19 outbreak, with many events rescheduled to next year.

Under current guidelines, just 50 people can visit cinemas, theatres, and art galleries, and museums, with other indoor events enforcing a 6-person limit.
