Basketball Ireland has suspended all competitions and events with immediate effect.
The association released a statement last night saying they were "determined to be proactive regarding precautions to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19)".
The statemment says that while the news will result in "inconvenience and disappointment" to many, the decision was taken "in the best interests of not just the basketball community, but also family, friends and the wider community".

Meanwhile in the US the NBA has also suspended its season.
It's after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert contracted COVID 19. The Jazz were due to play Oklahoma City Thunder, however that game was postponed, and the Jazz players are currently being quarantined inside of the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Teams who have played the Jazz in the last ten days have been told to self quarantine by the league - the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors.
