Business operators are calling on government to amend the company law during the Covid-19 pandemic so they can hold AGM's virtually.
A poll by the Institute of Directors shows nine in ten CEOs and company directors are in favour of a temporary change in regulation.
At the moment, businesses are required to hold an AGM within 15 months of the previous one.
Chief Executive of The Institute of Directors, Maura Quinn says holding one physically is very difficult right now due to the coronavirus restrictions.
"This is actually AGM season effectively here in Ireland in terms of company.
"We've been inundated since the lockdown commenced from our members who are expressing grave concerns about about their ability to proceed with the holding of AGMs, which they're required to do under company law.
"Essentially what we're asking for is to recognise the many difficulties facing businesses here at the moment."
