There's calls for increased guidance and leadership around wearing face masks, ahead of this morning's meeting of the National Public Health Emergency Team.
Officials will review updated World Health Organisation guidance on face coverings, which says people should wear them in places where social distancing isn't possible.
The General Secretary of the National Bus and Rail Union, Dermot O’Leary, says there's a lack of leadership on face masks.
He wants legislation brought in so people have to wear face coverings on public transport.
"There's a groundswell of support out there now in the medical community and the scientific community [on the wearing of face coverings].
"I heard some of the negative connotations on why we shouldn't have a policy on it, and some people have difficulty wearing masks.
"I think people know full well the etiquette they have to practice, and I would suggest at this stage that we need legislation to ensure people wear face coverings on public transport and in other public areas."
