There are calls for the mask requirement in schools to be dropped as soon as possible.
School children will still need to wear masks even after most Covid restrictions are eased under NPHET advice.
Aine Lynch, CEO of the National Parents Council Primary, says the rule should be looked at again:
"I think, I mean, as soon as possible that we'd like to see that review happen. I think it's really important that, you know, obviously the safety of children is paramount, but as soon as it is deemed safe by NPHET that we can remove the requirement for those children to wear masks the better. And that they can get back to the normality of the classroom and their their social engagements."
