GPs, Gardai and retail workers are calling for the pandemic bonus to be extended to them.
The scheme will cover frontline healthcare workers with a one thousand euro payment to recognise their efforts.
The government says it would be hard to know where to draw the line if more workers are eligible.
Brendan O'Connor from the Garda Representative Association believes their members have a good case.
"We were dealign with the public day in and day out, on check points, meeting thousands of people.
"We all saw the footage of Grafton Street during the protest against lockdown, there was protests against the lockdown, our members were spat at, they had bottles of urine thrown at them.
"It really was a difficult time on the frontline for Gardai."
