Changes to the wage subsidy scheme to allow new mothers to access it are being examined by the government.
At the moment women returning to work do not qualify for the subsidy scheme.
It had been thought the scheme couldn't be changed until there's a new government as it requires an amendment to legislation.
However, Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe says his Department is looking at other solutions:
