Childcare providers are calling on the National Public Health Emergency Team to include the sector in a roadmap of an Covid-19 restriction easing.

Seas Suas, which represents minders who care for 10,000 children say they are ready to help with the effort to kickstart the economy but haven't been contacted on how childcare can be provided.

It says any plan needs to be practical and grounded in reality.

Chair of the group is Regina Bushall, says they haven't been consulted yet.

"Certainly we have written to them and we have offered our assistance in putting plans in place.

"As the people operating these services on the ground we know first hand what we usually do on a daily basis.

"We need to have that plan in place and know what we're doing, and have whatever training that will be required, because I'm sure there will be training required as well."
