A West Cork town has launched an innovative new plan to help businesses recover from the restrictions introduced to combat the spread of Covid-19.

Clonakilty Chamber of Commerce has announced a €40,000 fund to supplement the purchase of Clonakilty Vouchers that can be used at any store that is a member of the town Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber will add €10 or €20 for every €50 or €100 of Clonakilty Vouchers purchased to serve as an incentive to shop locally.

Speaking to RedFM News, chairperson of Clonakilty Chamber of Commerce Orla O'Donovan says people can make a huge difference to the towns recovery

"IF we get out and support there shops as soon as we're able to do so, and as soon as it's safe and possible to do so, that then will please God bring our economy back and get our jobs up and running, and just get back to where we were this time last year.

"If we don't do that we're going to see a very different Clonakilty."
