Concern has been expressed about large crowds gathered outside Faranree Church this morning where a funeral was taking place.
Footage seen by RedFM News shows dozens of people gathering at the church as well as heavy traffic in the area including camper vans with foreign registrations.
Fears are mounting about the impact of the incident where social distance was called into question by some listeners who were in the area at the time.
It's understood the funeral cortege which included two horse-drawn carriages, made its way form O'Connor's Funeral Home on Shandon St to Faranree church for the mass.
In a statement issued to RedFM News this afternoon a garda spokesperson confirmed An Garda Síochána liaised with the family in advance of the funeral and guidelines surrounding funerals were clearly outlined.
It was also confirmed that no incidents of note were reported or are under investigation.
The garda spokesperson said, "An Garda Síochána continues to observe generally excellent compliance to Public Health guidelines by the public. An Garda Síochána continues to interact with the public on a graduated response of engage, educate, encourage and as a last resort enforce the Regulations as part of the Public Health guidelines".
