There have been 74 new cases of Coronavirus confirmed in the Republic of Ireland in the past day.
There are now 366 total cases in Ireland, up from 292 yesterday. Of the new cases 29 are females and 45 are males. The total number on the island of Ireland now stands at 434.
Dr. Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer shared more detailed data of the 271 cases confirmed up to Monday night. Up to that point there have been 2 deaths, 6 ICU admissions and 84 have experienced hospitilisation. Of these 271 cases approximately 40% are male and 60% are female.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has also given a breakdown of which counties have been most and least affected:
- Only three counties in the country have not been affected only Leitrim, Laois and Monaghan
- The top three counties for cases in the Republic are Dublin with 129 cases, Cork with 48 cases and Limerick with 14 cases.
- To date 42% of cases are travel related, 22% associated with community transmission, 17% are as a result of local transmission and 20% remain under investigation.
- Two thirds of cases are younger than 55 years, with almost one in four cases aged 35 – 44 years.
- Meanwhile one in five cases are healthcare workers with 37% of these cases associated with travel.

Today retailers including Penney's, Zara and LifeStyle decided to close their doors to protect their staff. Also today, five banks decided they would give three month suspension on mortgage repayments and business loans for those who have lost income due to the virus. Contactless payment limits will be increased to €50 from €30 in the coming weeks to help more people pay for their shopping without contact.
Events such as Glastonbury Festival and the Eurovision Song Contest were cancelled and the BBC suspended filming of it's soap operas including EastEnders, Holby City and Doctors
