Cork Airport will be reducing hours of operation from today as a result of the spread of Covid-19.
The airport remains open and will continue to facilitate scheduled repatriation flights, emergency landings and medical evacuations daily between 8am and 8pm.
There are just two departures and two arrivals at the airport today, in stark contrast to previous years when the busy summer season begins.
Speaking to RedFM News, Kevin Cullinane from Cork Airport says it's a very different airport at the moment.
"We had no first wave of departures this morning, so no Amsterdam departing Cork Airport at 0600 this morning.
"We have scaled back the airport's hours of operation as as result of the global downturn in aviation that everyone has been experiencing.
"However we remain open for those scheduled arrivals and departures that are repatriating Irish people abroad, and for those non Irish residents here who want to get home."
