Cork Airport say they're hoping to see the beginning of recovery in the aviation sector in March/April 2021.

It follows the publication of the Joint Committee on Transport and Communications Networks report on the Aviation Industry in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the plans for recovery.

Management at Cork Airport say they particularly welcome the recommendations on the acceleration of validation studies on rapid, low-cost, scalable pre-departure testing and in particular rapid antigen testing.”

Speaking to RedFM News Cork Senator Jerry Buttimer a member of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport says Cork airport will play a key role in economic recovery, "It's quite clear now that regional airports, including Cork will play and have to play a pivotal role in recovery of our country, and therefore there is an urgent need to review our aviation policy within the context of the regional airports, like Cork".
