"Every minute counts... It's life and death"
That's the message from Cork woman Julie McCall whose husband Paul required the services of the Air Ambulance after he was knocked unconscious following a recent fall on an inaccessible part of a coastal walk in Myrtleville.
The Air Ambulance, which relies almost entirely on public support and costs €3,500 per mission, responded to the scene within minutes of the alarm being raised and transferred Paul to Cork University Hospital.
1/3 Last weekend we unfortunately had to call on the Irish Community Rapid Response crew to rescue my husband after a fall at Fennels Bay knocked him unconscious. Fortunately, thanks to the amazing #icrr crew & medics at #CorkUniversityHospital he is home & recovering pic.twitter.com/lCR9VZV5VA

The Fountainstown couple pledged to raise funds for the service after hearing it's in danger of being grounded due to lack of funds, a situation which has worsened since the COVID19 outbreak.
