Last Friday the Taoiseach announced wide-ranging movement restrictions

These will be in place until April 12th.

It means everyone must remain in their home and only leave for essential work, to buy food, for medical appointments, for vital family reasons and for brief exercise, but only within 2km of your home.

Meanwhile those over 70 must 'cocoon' in their homes.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Superintendent Mick Comyns says gardaí have set up checkpoints are stopping people to make sure that travel is essential and to ensure people they won't be stopped unless they're in large groups.
