Cork hotel says the ability to serve alcohol without food is a boost for hoteliers as well as pubs

A Cork hotel says the reopening of pubs is a welcome move and will also allow hoteliers to offer their customers another reason to stay.

Up until today, only pubs that served food were allowed to sell alcohol. It meant in order to buy an alcoholic beverage a minimum of €9 had to be spent on a meal.

Pubs across the city and county have welcomed the move and say strict safety measures have been put in place in advance of their doors reopening including, limited numbers, physical distancing, table service only and strict cleaning regimes.

Speaking to RedFM News General Manager of the Maldron Hotel on the South Mall Robert McCarthy says the restrictions around pubs reopening also had an effect on hotels:
