Retailers in towns across Cork say 'shopping local' will be the key to their survival as the fallout from the COVID19 outbreak continues to be felt.
It follows a new survey of 700 listeners by Cork's RedFM which shows that 53% intend to shop local more frequently when restrictions are lifted.
Many Cork traders say even when restrictions are lifted they'll continue to weather the storm with further event cancellations and postponements.
Rachel of Ina McCarthy Flowers in Midleton told RedFM News although they have lost out on events like weddings, communions and Mother's Day people continue to support them in other ways:
"Mother's Day was the first big impact for us - we were really down on sales, really down on passing trade.
"We were closed for 8 weeks - during that 8 week period I had a lot of cancellations and postponements for weddings.
"But we're back now, so we're delighted to be back.
"The next thing I suppose that we won't have is Debs and Grads, but the local support has really made up for it.
"People are just coming in for flowers, not even for occasions, but I do think the core of that is that they do want to support us."
