A Cork publican is anticipating that the next few months will be a struggle for his industry.
The Cabinet is set to meet today discuss the latest recommendations from NPHET.
There is currently an 8pm closing time in place for the hospitality industry .
Paul Montgomery, who runs four city businesses, has had to close Atlas on Marlboro St, and Kings on Princes Street while trade continues at Clancy’s and Conway’s Yard on Oliver Plunkett street.
He says 70 - 80% of his trade as been decimated due to the ongoing public health restrictions and the businesses have also been hit by staff shortages.
Speaking to RedFM news Paul Montgomery outlined the changes he'd like to see from the Government.
"I would certainly hope that we would get longer trading hours.
"I would hope as well as that we would get the support from the public, and that people would come out and feel safe to come out. That's probably as big an issue as anything else.
"I think there's still a fear factor there, and the Chief Medical Officer has made it clear in public health to limit people's social connections.
"I don't think that advice is going to change, and I think it's going to be a continuous struggle for the next few months."
