The charity released their annual report for 2019 yesterday
The charity says people were told to stay safe and stay at home this year, however for many people on the streets of Cork that wasn't an option.
According to the charity's annual report for 2019 which was launched yesterday; 52 people found secure and affordable independent and supported housing with the help of Cork Simon - that's 21% more than in 2018.
Cork Simon say all of these people were long term homeless and all continue to be supported to rebuild their lives.
Speaking to RedFM News, Paul Sheehan of Cork Simon says they're hoping to help more people in February 2021 with the completion of the SS Joachim & Anne's flats:
'In 2019 we started renovation work on St. Joachim & Anne's on Anglesea Street. It's a listed building so the work is being very sensitively done. But we are expecting construction to be finished by February 2021. It will mean an additional 8 independent living apartments. We will be targeting people who have been long-term homeless in homeless shelters.'
