Cork student raises thousands for national charity in memory of late friend

A Cork student has helped to raise thousands for a national COVID19 fundraiser 'Our Hospital Heroes' in the midst of final year college exams.

Amy Wren and her friends were inspired by the fundraiser when they discovered the appeal was being coordinated by the Mater Foundation, a charity close to their hearts following the death of their friend who passed away in their final year of secondary school.

The Gratitude Challenge which was led by the Crosshaven woman encourages people to list three things they're grateful, nominate others to do the same while also donating to the cause.

Speaking to RedFM News Amy Wren says the initiative is in memory of their friend Helen Fennell from Bandon who passed away, and she's blown away by the reaction:
