It's expected that Cork will see some one way systems being introduced on pedestrianised streets as the city opens up and adapts to changes to conform with social distancing guidelines.
From today all shops can reopen operating staggered opening hours and they must have allocated time for vulnerable customers.
Cork Chamber says the return of retail will provide a boost for Cork's high streets and people are being encouraged to shop local and to support their local business community
On street parking charges are making a return to the city today however however free parking will continue at Paul St and North Main Street multi-storey car parks.
The Black Ash Park & Ride facility is also reopening to customers from today
Speaking to RedFM News Pat O'Connell from the English Market says traders and the City Council will ensure that shoppers are safe.
"It's at times like this that we realise how lucky we are to have the width that we have on Patrick's Street.
"Obviously we haven't closed so we've been open all the time, and you're looking at people and they are keeping a distance.
"I think there's a reason for staggering the hours, there's a reason for managing the hours as best we can.
"I think we're going to have a couple of one way pedestrian streets.
"Council are looking at it, retailers are looking at it, and if something isn't working I think very quickly it will be changed."
