Appearing in court via video link will not impact a prisoner's 14 day quarantine.

The Echo reports the issue was clarified at Cork District Court yesterday following concern from Judge Olann Kelleher about the amount of prisoners who were unable to appear before the court on Wednesday.

The court heard that being in quarantine for 14 days on arrival in prison did not interfere with a prisoner's right to appear in court, however a prisoner in isolation due to a positive case of Covid-19 would mean they would not be able to appear.

Seven cases were unable to proceed on Wednesday due to prisoners being in quarantine
