The Courts Service of Ireland has begun contacting people in the city and county who have been summonsed for jury service at criminal sessions next month to inform that they are no longer required.
Over 4,000 people have been asked to attend on April 20th for jury service in Cork and eight other counties but they are no longer required as no new trials will take start then as a result of the outbreak of Covid-19.
The Courts Service has already notified 1,000 people who responded to the summons to inform them of the change but they are also seeking to notify the remaining 3,000 plus potential jurors they are no longer required on April 20th.
