Tourism Ireland says the outbreak of Covid-19 presents an unprecedented and extremely serious situation for Irish tourism.
The group says the virus is affecting all of its members who are reporting significant cancellations and very few new bookings.
It says an extensive kick-start programme will be rolled out when the time is right.
The groups comments come after new CSO figures show the number of overseas visitors to Ireland grew by 1 per cent from 2018 to 2019.
