Here's A Reminder Of Today's Covid Headlines

There has been a further 1,378 Covid-19 cases - the highest figure in nearly 6 months.

96 people are in hospital, up 7 in the past 24 hours, while the number in ICU has increased by 1 to 22.

Meanwhile the growth rate of new cases is roughly 7 per cent per day, according to the Deputy Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Ronan Glynn says the incidence rate is increasing across the country, and is highest in those aged 19-24 and 16-18.

Indoor dining will re-open next Monday with guidelines set to be released to businesses in the coming days.

President Michael D Higgins signed the needed legislation into law earlier while Cabinet discussed the issue at its meeting this morning.

Only people who have immunity to the virus through vaccination or prior infection will be able to dine indoors.

The government's approved a waiver of court fees and excise duties for vintners for the second year in a row.

Minister for Justice Heather Humphreys says pubs, bars, nightclubs and restaurants will all benefit from the measure.

The Minister says it will help stimulate economic activity and employment as the sector reopens, in line with government and public health recommendations.

The Tánaiste says couples getting married in August should plan on the basis of a 50 person limit at their wedding.

Numbers allowed at the ceremonies are currently restricted to 50 people.

But it had been hoped this would be expanded to 100 from next month.

However, Leo Varadkar says couples shouldn't rely on this.

Around 150 thousand people haven't got their Digital Covid Cert yet due to minimal or incorrect data about their vaccination status.

Over 2 million certs have been issued to date, with 1.1 million sent out by email.

Extra agents are working on the government helpline today to deal with the large number of calls from people who want to travel.

The HSE's Damien McCallion says they're trying to clear the backlog
