A leading infectious diseases expert believes Covid hospital numbers could drop below 100 within the next month.
Professor Sam McConkey says he's 'cautiously optimistic' given the current rate of decline.
1,081 people with Covid are currently receiving treatment, which's down roughly 33% in the past two weeks.
Professor McConkey says a further sharp decline in the number of Covid patient's in hospital's likely over the coming weeks.
"A lot of people have been exposed and had it and in some ways, you know that's a natural booster to be able to strain has boosted their immune system above and beyond even the vaccines.
"So I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll see a very dramatic decline in the number of cases in the hospital and the number of people getting COVID in the next two to four weeks.
"I'm hoping below 500, and I'm hoping to go down with even to double digit figures just less than 100."
