The Dáil is expected to approve drastic new laws aimed at tackling the coronavirus.
They include allowing the government to detain people who have the virus and refuse to self isolate and allowing the government to shut down mass gatherings.
It also gives a legal footing to the enhanced welfare supports for people whose jobs have been hit.
However, just a third of TDs have been asked to come to Leinster House to allow for social distancing in the Dáil chamber.
Acting Social Protection Minister Regina Doherty says there will also be legislation to detain people who don’t obey Covid-19 rules.
"If we give the state powers to direct people to stay in their homes or to isolate if they pose a public health risk to other people in their community and refuse to adhere to the guidelines.
"It would also give powers for us to control the guidelines that we've issued in the last week regarding mass gatherings both indoors and outdoors."
