A former Cork employee of Debenhams says her job meant so much to her, but to the department store she's just another employee number.
A protest was staged by Debenhams workers outside Bank of Ireland on the South Mall this lunchtime, where the institution were called on to pay the redundancy of the workers after it emerged the bank holds a 5% stake in the business.
330 workers at the retailers' stores at Patrick Street and Mahon Point have lost their jobs after the department store announced it was closing 11 stores in Ireland.
In a statement issued to RedFM News Bank of Ireland says they understand the challenges facing all sectors, employers and workers at the moment and that they are very disappointed they had to suspend trading at their Irish stores.
