Debenhams workers in Cork say they feel they are trapped in limbo as their trade union makes valiant attempts to deal with the parent company in the UK on their behalf.
330 workers across Debenhams' two Cork stores have been left without jobs have the firm announced that it's closing it's Irish operations.
In recent weeks workers have mounted a number of protests as fears rise about their redundancy payouts and the possible removal of stock from the two Cork stores.
Speaking to RedFM News Debenhams shop steward Valerie Conlon says it looks like they will only receive statutory redundancy however their trade union Mandate is continuing to engage with Debenhams UK on their behalf.
"There's been a continuing of the fight in that they're doing there best.
"It's because of the times that it is it's even harder, nobody can go over to England at the moment, but they [Mandate] are constantly in touch with them.
"Some times are harder than others, we're trying to keep our spirits up and we are probably in limbo, but that's why we have to keep watching the shop and just make sure that everything stays in the stores at the moment."
