The country's chief medical officer says the country still has a way to go before restrictions are eased
Dr Holohan was speaking at the daily Covid 19 press conference where he outlined that there haave been 49 more deaths related to Covid-19 in the Republic. The death toll from the disease now stands at 769.
When asked by reporters about the possibility of restrictions being lifted on May 5th, Dr Holohan says he's very concerned that people may start 'slacking off' in anticipation that Covid-19 restrictions may be eased on 5 May
He says people need to continue to engage with the high level of compliance with the current restrictions which are in operation in an effort to suppress the virus
Speaking at the press briefing Dr Holohan says at this stage there should be no assumption that the restrictions will be lifted next month
