Early childcare providers are defending their decision not to allow children attend creche, if they recently returned from a foreign holiday.

Some pre-schools are asking for a negative PCR test while others are asking parents not to send their children to creche within two weeks of returning from holidays.

According to public health guidelines, children travelling with vaccinated adults or people who've recently recovered from the virus do not need to self-isolate.

Elaine Dunne from the Federation of Early Childhood Providers says the industry needs more support from Government.

"I do feel like we've been left to our own devices for quite some time now, and we've basically just got on with the job at hand.

"It would be nice to see the department and our minister coming out in support of the whole sector at this time."
