FAI to seek clarification from government

The FAI are to seek clarification from the Government over the finer details of the ban on mass gatherings of over 5000 people until August 31st.

The Republic of Ireland are due to welcome Finland to Dublin for a Nations League game in September.

The restriction also conjures questions around the League of Ireland, with crowds in the domestic league often under 5000.

Meanwhile the Premier League won't discuss the option of voiding their season for another month.

The move in Holland to ban major events until September 1st potentially gives Belgium and Scotland cover with UEFA to finish their top flight seasons early.

The Dutch Eredivise is likely to be cancelled.

Football in the Netherlands has been banned until September 1st as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Dutch football association - the KNVB - will meet with clubs to discuss the ramifications of their decision to end the season.
