There are further fears for retail in Cork after the High Court appointed liquidators to Irish branches of Oasis and Warehouse.

The group employs around 300 employees in their stores on Patrick Street and at Mahon Point Shopping Centre.

The news comes a week after Debenhams announced that 11 Irish stores including two in Cork would not reopen following the lifting of restrictions.

Around 330 employees in Cork were impacted by the move, which has been described as 'cynical' and 'opportunistic' by trade union Mandate.
