Fianna Fáil is calling on banks to freeze all commercial loans and it's urging landlords to waive commercial rents for a minimum of three months due to the coronavirus.

The party's also calling for all commercial rates to be immediately suspended, along with utility bills on business premises.

Fianna Fail health spokesperson Stephen Donnelly says additional measures are needed:

"What we want to say is you can't afford your rent, and you can't afford to pay your mortgage, that there would be no moves to evict people from their homes.

"We want to go further than that and say if you can't afford to pay your mortgage it's not just that you would just be given forbearance, but that you would not technically be defaulting."
