Fishing Organisations Condemn Recent Port Blockades In Castletownbere And Dingle

Castletownbere Fisherman's Co-Op say protests preventing French and Spanish vessels from offloading their catch would only serve to damage the industry

It's one of seven fishing organisations that have condemned the blockades.

Fishermen say they blockaded the ports due to concern that visiting fishermen were acting irresponsibly and not following advice regarding social distancing, however fishing organisations have sought to reassure the public that strict conditions apply to the movement of crews in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to RedFM News, John Nolan from Castletownbere Fishermen's Co-Op says keeping the industry alive is vitally important:
