Minister Simon Coveney is in Cork today to meet the French Ambassador to Ireland to discuss links between the two countries ahead of a visit of the French President Emmanuel Macron next Thursday.
Groups representing the live events sector described a meeting between them and Arts Minister Catherine Martin earlier this week as a disappointment and warned the industry will fall apart unless there is clarity on reopening.
Speaking to RedFM News, Minister Simon Coveney says a roadmap being launched at the end of the month will include the live events sector:
I know what's being asked for here which is simply certainty and a timeline. No one's being unreasonable here. And I think we will be able to provide that certainty and timeline, within the next week or so- before the end of the month, that's a commitment that the Taoiseach has made, that I've made, and other government ministers have made. We're very conscious that we need to provide a clear roadmap into September and beyond."
Minister Simon Coveney says the government are aware of the frustrations of the live events sector and says the sector will be included in the roadmap for reopening the country to be announced at the end of the month. More on air and online. pic.twitter.com/ywdmCKRmdu
