€62m in funding is being made available to schools to improve ventilation.
The minor works grant will see €45m go to primary and special schools, and €17m to post-primary schools.
It'll allow for improvements like the purchase of HEPA air filters.
Education Minister Norma Foley says they can choose what they need to spend the money on.
"That could be anything from floor covering, to window blinds, to IT equipment, and of course that does include small scale ventilation improvements as a small scale mitigation should they be required.
"The key point is that schools know their own needs best, so the autonomy is given to to schools via the minor works grant to identify what those measures might be and to put them in place with this funding."
