Gardaí Monitoring Queue Outside Penneys As Hundreds Of People Queue To Shop

The store was due to open at 10:30am however management opened an hour early due to the crowds.

The queue, which has been criticised for not observing social distancing rules, stretched from the front door of the store, along Robert's Street, onto Oliver Plunkett Street and Cook Street and back onto Patrick Street.

The first people to join the queue began lining up at 3:30 this morning.

Speaking to the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM, these shoppers outlined what's on their wishlist:
