The government's repeating its warning the restrictions will only be lifted if the spread of the virus slows down.

Some minor coronavirus restrictions are being eased from this morning.

Those cocooning can go out for brief exercise while the 2km exercise distance is being extended to 5km.

It’ll be another two weeks before any further restrictions are eased.

But government official Liz Canavan says that's dependent on the growth rate of Covid-19.

"We are very aware how difficult the current restrictions are for people and their families.

"There are a number of supports available on gov.ie/together andyourmentalhealth.ie.

"Please use these facilities, and contact your GP if you're very stressed.

"The road map is a gradual step wise plan towards reopening.

"Our ability to open the economy and society will be entirely dependent on our success in slowing down the virus."
