GPs say they are concerned at the drop in numbers of 'routine' consultations during the pandemic.

The Irish Medical Organisation is urging the public not to ignore other non-Covid 19 health issues.

It says that could lead to longer term problems for patients.

Roscommon GP Dr. Madeleine Ní Dhálaigh, is a member of the IMO's GP committee.

She says people contact their doctor if they are worried about different symptoms.

"While we don't anyone to turn up at the door we do want people to pick up the phone and make a call to us.

"Particularly if they're having chest pains, shortness of breath, if they're having palpitations, if they're feeling weak, if they have weight loss, any variety of the symptoms that we're not seeing at the moment or not hearing from our patients about."
