GPs are urging anyone experiencing mild symptoms of Covid-19 to self-isolate immediately.
The Irish College of General Practitioners wants people to try to protect people who are vulnerable in their own families.
Those experiencing symptoms won't be tested for the disease unless they are in a priority groups - including the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr Nuala O'Connor, from the ICGP, says it's not only those with severe symptoms who are a concern.
" ]Now that we are testing people with slightly more severe symptoms and if they're in a high priority risk group, we are concerned that there may be people with mild symptoms of Covid out in the community.
"The milder cough, fever, sore throat, aches and pains, the kind of thing that you say 'oh I have a little bit of something, but it doesn't sound like it's bad enough for me to have Covid-19.'
"But they could well have Covid-19."
