Six weeks ago Cork/Kerry Community Healthcare had to temporarily review the level of home support provided to some people due to the challenges posed by Covid-19
The temporary measure allowed them to maintain the home support service for the people who were most in need of it, and who relied on it
In a statement issued to RedFM News at that time the Health Service Executive said any changes would apply to people who have been assessed as being less reliant on the service and any reduction in the level of support was balanced by increased support from family members or alternative forms of volunteer-provided local supports.
Some healthcare support assistants were drafted into community hospitals for the last number of weeks however they are now slowly returning to their community roles as SIPTU's Liam Allen explains to RedFM News:
