Hopes high Cork man's virtual marathon will help ensure continuity of ALONE services

It's hoped a virtual marathon set up by a Cork man will help ensure continuity of an organisation dedicated to the welfare of elderly people.

The #RunForALONE initiative will see over 150 volunteers taking part in a thirty minute run or walk, for 48 consecutive hours.

The participants will remain within a 2km radius of their home, as outlined by the latest Government updates. and will complete their run or walk as individuals alone, during a dedicated time slot.

The ‘Virtual Marathon’ is due to take place from Friday April 3rd to Sunday April 5th.

Cork man Eoin Gilley is behind the event and speaking to RedFM News he says those vulnerable and older people need our help now more than ever in the midst of the COVID19 outbreak:
