HSE is appealing to everyone and especially healthcare workers, people aged over 50 and anyone over 12 with an underlying health condition or who are immunocompromised to check they are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccine boosters.
Its warning of the potential to pick up the virus due to the high levels of social interaction over Christmas and is urging those who are of high risk to take action now.
Chief Clinical Officer with the HSE Colm Henry says there are numerous locations where people can get a vaccination or booster:
"Call to the centres that are open. We have multiple opportunities for people to get both the influenza vaccine and the COVID vaccine from GPs. Vaccination centers are encouraging people to come forward and as well."
