Independent Report Says The Postal Network Needs €17 million Annually From The State

The report says the funding is needed to prevent it from collapse

The Grant Thornton review's warning the network's otherwise facing 'unrestrained closures' into 2021.

The report recommends a change to Ireland's Post Office network to a Public Service Obligation model similar to the likes of the UK, France and Spain.

In a subsequent statement An Post says both of its delivery and Post Office networks are performing very well through Covid-19.

However it says it does recognise the decline in footfall and incomes and its' working with government to address the issues.
